This dance depicts a walk through the streets of Forfar to climb up "Bummie" (Balmashanner Hill) and then down past where the witches were caught and burned, returning to the Cross and past the old jute weaving mills on the way round the loch.

MUSIC

Bars 1 - 4   1st and 3rd couples, with nearer hands joined, advance.   1st woman and 3rd man and 1st man and 3rd woman, with nearer hands joined, dance out between standing couples and back to place.

Bars 5 - 8   2nd and 4th couples repeat bars 1 - 4, dancing out between 1st and 3rd couples.

Bars 9 - 16   1st couple make an arch and 2nd woman, followed by 2nd man, 3rd woman, 3rd man, 4th woman and 4th man, dance under the arch and promenade anticlockwise with partner back to place.   1st couple set on bars 15 and 16.

Bars 17 - 20   All 4 couples turn partner with right hand.

Bars 21 - 24   All 4 women set twice advancing into the middle of the set and, on the 4th setting step, turn to face partner and clap.

Bars 25 - 32   All 4 women, now back to back, join hands and slip step to the right and back while the 4 men follow each other anti-clockwise round the set and back to place.

Bars 33 - 40   All 4 women join right hands across in the middle and give left hand to partner to form St Andrews cross.   All set twice and turn by the right, women giving left hands across and right hands to partner.   All set twice and, on the last setting step, the 4 women dance out to their original place.

Bars 41 - 48   2nd couple with 3rd woman and 1st man and 4th couple with 1st woman and 3rd man dance a reel of 3 in tandem (2nd man leads giving right shoulder to 3rd woman and 4th man leads giving right shoulder to 1st woman).   During the first half of the reels the 2nd and 4th women take the lead as they curve round the loop (approx. bars 42 and 43).   During the second half of the reel the 2nd and 4th men take the lead as they curve round the loop (approx. bars 46 and 47) and dance back to place.

Bars 49 - 56   2nd couple with 1st man and 3rd woman and 4th couple with 1st woman and 3rd man, dance four hands across and back.
